5 Dog-Friendly UK Walks for Stylish Adventures

From rolling hills to rugged coastlines, discover 5 of the UK’s most scenic dog-friendly walks that both you and your four-legged friend will love.

At Barc London, we believe walks are more than just a daily routine; they’re moments to connect, to explore, and to embrace the great outdoors. Whether you're planning a weekend getaway or a longer countryside escape, we’ve rounded up some of the most breathtaking dog-friendly walking routes across the UK. Think less “muddy trek,” more “elevated adventure”, although there’s always space for a little dirt under the paws.

And leading the way? The ever-beautiful Peak District.

1. Peak District – Mam Tor and The Great Ridge

The Peak District is having a moment and it’s easy to see why. Mam Tor, often dubbed the ‘Shivering Mountain’, offers some of the most iconic views in the region. The circular walk from Mam Tor to Lose Hill along the Great Ridge is not only accessible for most fitness levels but also completely dog-friendly (with plenty of open terrain for zoomies).

Top tip: Start early to catch the sunrise, then head to The George, Castleton for a dog-friendly bite – their outdoor seating is perfect for post-hike lounging.

2. Northumberland – Bamburgh Beach to Seahouses

For those drawn to coastal charm, Northumberland’s beaches are vast, wild, and uncrowded, ideal for off-lead freedom. The stretch between Bamburgh and Seahouses is a golden ribbon of sand, backdropped by castle views and salty sea air.

Refuel: The Potted Lobster in Bamburgh is a local favourite with a dog-friendly terrace and fresh seafood that’s hard to beat.

3. Wales – Cadair Idris, Snowdonia National Park

Wales is a playground for adventurous pups. If you’ve already ticked off Snowdon, consider the quieter but equally majestic Cadair Idris. The Minffordd Path is a steep but rewarding climb, best for energetic dogs and confident walkers.

Prefer something a little less strenuous?
Swap the rocky ascent for a long, meandering stroll through Newborough Forest and Ynys Llanddwyn on the Isle of Anglesey. Think pine-scented woodland, open sand dunes, and panoramic sea views. End your walk at the ruins of Llanddwyn Chapel or take in the views from the iconic lighthouse.

Where to stay: The Valley Pines, a charming, dog-welcoming holiday home just a short drive away, makes for the perfect base to explore Anglesey’s hidden gems.

4. Cornwall – The Lizard Peninsula

Cornwall may be known for its cream teas and surfers, but it’s also home to some of the most spectacular dog-friendly walking routes in the UK. Try the Lizard Coastal Walk; a loop from Kynance Cove to Lizard Point that features clifftop views, turquoise waters, and plenty of photo ops.

Pause for a pint: The Top House Inn in Lizard village is welcoming to dogs and serves up a fantastic local ale.

5. Lake District – Buttermere Loop

Quieter than some of the better-known Lake District hotspots, Buttermere is a hidden gem. The 4.5-mile lakeside loop is flat, peaceful, and picture-perfect – especially in the golden hour light.

Insider note: There are plenty of stream spots along the way, so a quick-dry collar or lead (like our Essential Collar and Adjustable Lead) comes in handy post-paddle.

Exploring the UK with your dog doesn’t mean compromising on comfort or style. With the right gear and consideration, every walk becomes a small luxury. Whether you're scaling ridges, bounding along beaches, or simply soaking in the scenery, we say: do it in style, and always with your best friend in tow.
