Jai Dog Rescue

Jai Dog Rescue, charity partner and sister company of Ministry of SoundJai Dog Rescue, sister company to Ministry of Sound, and Barc London's charity partner.

We are Jai Dog Rescue. It is our mission to transform the lives of street dogs in Thailand.

Established in 2017 by sister company, Ministry of Sound, as the only dog charity in the world to be founded by a nightclub, we do things differently, fast, with colour and character.

Jai was born when co-founder, Mike, who worked with Lord James Palumbo at Ministry of Sound, travelled to Koh Phangan on a DJ trip. On a beach he met Suzie who was blind, weak and hungry, it was clear she wouldn’t survive. Mike’s heart went out to her, he brought her home to live with him in London. Suzie changed Mike’s life, in 2017 he moved to Thailand and Jai was formally established. He hired staff, built kennels and a clinic, started the CNVR programme, learnt Thai and visited local officials and Temples.

Jai Dog Rescue Team work tirelessly to care for the dogsOur team works tirelessly, through seasons of stifling heat and torrential monsoons, to care for dogs who have nobody to look after them. Based in the central Thai province of Nakhon Nayok, our team provides an invaluable lifeline for hundreds of thousands of stray roaming animals who call the streets their home.

Through our sterilisation and vaccination work, our rescue and rehabilitation efforts, our community outreach initiatives, and our rehoming service, we have already transformed the lives of thousands of street dogs in need.

Situated in the rural foothills of the Khao Yai National Park, our shelter, affectionately referred to as the Farm, is a place of unspoilt natural beauty providing a unique safe haven for our dogs. There are currently around 95 dogs living on the Farm, including our paralysed wheelchair residents for whom this is their forever home. Being on a working farm there is plenty of space for the dogs to roam and play.

Since 2017, we've accomplished a lot:

  • Sterilised and vaccinated over 15,000 animals
  • Rescued and rehabilitated over 585 dogs
  • Rehomed 89 dogs
  • Provided lifetime sanctuary for 95 rescued dogs
  • Offered comprehensive support to 5 local rescuers through our 'Jai Aid' programme, providing monthly food, medical donations, and emergency rescue assistance
  • The Jai veterinary team sterilise and vaccinate over 900 dogs monthly.
  • Our mobile veterinary unit operates in remote areas, stationed at local temples, to extend sterilisation and vaccination services beyond our static clinic.
  • We conduct educational programs in Thai schools, empowering the next generation to improve the lives of community dogs.

We are based in one of the smallest provinces in Thailand. We have achieved a lot but there is still much to do.

In 2024, we will build our own Dog Hospital, the only one in the province treating street dogs. Fully equipped with surgery rooms, quarantine area and our own specialist medical equipment, it will increase our capabilities and allow us to respond to more emergency animals in need.

Our success is founded in collaborating with like minded organisations wanting to make a significant impact for animal welfare. The donations from our collaboration with Barc London will go directly towards helping build these facilities and rescue more dogs in need.
